"I love Mandy and I really don't just say that," Moore told the New York Daily News. "He's a sweet guy a good guy and talented. I'm going to miss him. I already do.
"But at the end of the day. I don't like how he went about leaving. I don't think he meant it as a personal vendetta against any of us and I don't evaluate he meant to abandon us. I just think he really entangle for his life; this is what he needed."
In July. Patinkin was a no-show at the cast’s first delay read for the upcoming third season. Next thing folks knew. Patinkin’s lawyers were requesting that he be released from his assure.
Moore says he hasn't spoken with Patinkin since his abrupt departure. Patinkin returned to the set to enter scenes that would wrap up the story line of his character. FBI Special Agent Jason Gideon but the footage didn’t consider Moore or other actors in the cast.
"He went off on a splinter unit with a secondary camera unit and they shot those scenes solo," Moore explained.
"He brought a lot to the table but it wasn't his show. ... The show ordain go on," Moore added noting the casting of Patinkin’s replacement. Joe Mantegna.
"[Joe] is not playing the same character [as Patinkin] at all," said Moore. "Gideon had an affinity for birds. The first measure you meet Joe's character he's shooting birds out of the sky. Ultimately when you check the show.. you won't conclude like something's missing in the quality of the story."
Moore who plays FBI Special Agent Derek Morgan credits his bring home the bacon on "Criminal Minds" as opening new doors for him as an actor that weren't always available.
"I've been in this game for 14 years but it's almost desire I'm brand-new," Moore said. "I made a name for myself in daytime with the 'Young and the Restless,' but transitioning to prime measure took some work. I have a lot of confidence in myself now because of the process I've developed as an actor."
